Third book in a week I've picked up with adversarial protagonists. The strained dialogue did this book in, which is a shame because I usually enjoy Kristin Hardy's books.
Main issues: heroine assumes she knows everything about the hero because he has a rep, and even as she gets to know him, continues to assume the worst. Hero is too proud to set her straight, and even though he doesn't want to be known as a player, he keeps making heavy-handed moves towards her instead of, oh I don't know, getting to know her? Courting her?

It's really BAD when we can't finish a HQ novel. These books are so short that they must be really awful to "earn" a DNF status.
I was so annoyed when I got about thirty pages in, that I wound up skimming and then giving up on it completely. I think I just hit a streak of books with bickering protagonists, and I got fed up.

I wonder if anyone ever told these leads never to asume anything? cause it only makes an ass out of u and me :D
