I found the writing in this book remarkable (I am so jealous of these non-native speakers who have such amazing facility with the language!), although it was disturbing to be in Humbert Humbert's mind for 300 pages.
One part of the book that surprised me was the details of America when they were on the road trip -- that was a section I didn't know about, and one of my favorite parts.
I'd been meaning to read this forever, and I'm really glad I did. It's not my favorite book ever, but I enjoyed reading the style and look forward to reading more Nabokov.
