This book was soooo good. Based on a true story, it pieces together the history of a Jewish religious text that has survived the inquisition, both World Wars and the Bosnian war. Filled with beautiful illuminations when art was generally excluded from religious books, the Sarajevo Haggadah reminds us that religious difference are not always the causes of war, but also serve to bring humanity closer together.

I loved this book for multiple reasons. Of course, I always love a book where the characters share my own deep love of books and literature. However, I also feel like I've discovered a treasure in Geraldine Brooks. I cannot wait to read the rest of her writing. She is a remarkable author.
