I read this one on the recommendation of my sister, Sarah, who is currently working her way through the exhaustive works of the three Bronte sisters. She and I shared a similar sentiment toward this book: we didn't like it all that much, but we couldn't put it down. The basis for my dislike is primarily principle-based: I just don't like romantic novels (with the serious exception of Jane Eyre). But the writing is very effective and the story keeps your attention aptly. Recommended for a beach-reading or the simple purpose of edifying one's mind with the more civilized conversation of 19th century England.
