it was ok

I had a really hard time getting into this novel. The writing was choppy and just didn't flow. It kept skipping from topic to topic and was hard to follow. But I realized that it was written from the perspective of a 10 year old boy growing up in Ireland, and that is probably how a 10 year old boy would think. So I decided to read it from that point of view, and that helped. I still can't say that I really enjoyed the book, but I did get drawn into it, and came away with a better understanding of what it is like to be a child and have a lot of misconceptions and not really understand what is happening in your family and the feelings inside you.
