If one can 'read' an audiobook, one should be able to 'read' a television show as well. OK, so I'm cheating. Humor me (and, if you want, do the same...review a television show or a movie!).

Up until last month, I had only watched the US version of The Office on random occasion. The show was always funny, but it never struck me as being as brilliant as its hype. I recently began watching from the very beginning and am now halfway through the second season of the show (thanks, Netflix). This show is amazing.

The Office is a very, very funny show - as funny as Arrested Development - but it's more. I began to care about the characters because they made me laugh, but I'm now watching The Office because it's about a group of people who can't quite connect with each other. They attempt to develop relationships with each other, mostly fail, sometimes succeed, but never to the degree they wish. It's those half-successes that are the most heart wrenching, moments that we know won't last. As ridiculous and over-the-top as some of these characters are, I can't help but feel for them when their wants and needs are just outside reach.

I'm sappy, and this show makes me sad. With every episode, I become a little bit sadder and, in my TV-watching-world, the sadder the better.
