I just discovered that Olive Kitteridge won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction, so I figured I'd best come back and write why I didn't care for it too much.

Simply put, I did not feel connected to the characters at all because I got to spend so little time with them (the only exception might be Christopher and his new family). Olive felt to me like many different people at the different stages in her life instead of one person growing and changing throughout the years. It's like going to visit relatives every five or ten years without keeping in touch between visits. You still know them, but you've missed an awful lot.
