Oh, the scandals! I began reading this final installment of the Luxe series thinking I knew who everyone was going to end up with. Boy, was I wrong! Despite Penelope and Elizabeth being married women, there was still plenty of drama happening.

Elizabeth, pregnant with stableboy Will's child, is in a marriage of convenience with Mr. Snowden Cairns, old family friend... or does he have a more sinister motive? Meanwhile, Elizabeth yearns for her old friend Teddy Cutting, who is off at war in the Pacific.

Penelope might have finagled a marriage to Henry Schoonmaker, but now she has the Prince of Bavaria flirting with her...

Diana, who everyone believes is off in Paris, has in truth run off to Cuba to hunt down Henry...

Carolina, the maid-turned-heiress, is now rich beyond her wildest imaginings, and now has the eligible bachelor Leland Bouchard falling for her... (although she is once again described as having "bee-stung" lips... see my review of Envy).

While some marriage-obsessed people might not be happy with the way the Luxe series ends, I found the ending to be full of girl power - being married and/or having a man isn't always for the best!
