I have read many of Ann Rule's books and collections, and I have to say her writing can be very spotty. Some of her books have been pretty flat and just filled with pages of boring extraneous details. This one, however, is very well written.
Rule's reporting is excellent in this, and she uncovers details that really help to develop the characters and provide insight into this disturbing crime. The fact that it happened in my city - and I was able to actually drive down the street where it happened - made it more chilling.
