If a comedian publishes a book and that book is available in audio form with the comedian as reader, it's always a good idea to listen to the jokes with the comedian's intonations. The only problem with this approach is that if you listen to it in the company of others, you find yourself laughing out loud, and he will make you laugh out loud, at jokes that nobody else is hearing. And the back story to the joke is just too woven and intricate to explain without listening to the bit yourself. David Sedaris is witty, dry, and humorously self-debasing. I thought his humor would have been more vulgar, but it wasn't, well not until the end when a few of the sections were on edge. A few of the routines got no reaction out of me, but most either had my smiling, or laughing, and a few laughing through the whole bit so impressed by his humor that I made my husband listen to the clips.

Robyn We read that book in our old book club (me, Lori, and Amy) years ago and it was so enjoyable. I can't imagine how funny it would be to hear his voice.
