I was born and raised in Detroit and lived in the east side for 35 years. This author lived there for a year and was optimistic in his thinking that the city can come back. I hold this hope that it can too. He talks about the people in charge and how they deceived the public and took the money. Only the poor are left because they have nowhere to go. Some new business is coming into downtown and new apartments are going up for the workers. The neighborhoods are ruined by fires or neglect. Will Detroit survive? Time will tell. Many books are being written about Detroit, maybe that's a start.
