it was amazing
bookshelves: currently-reading

This is the second of Perez-Reverte's Captain Alatriste novels. It reminds me, quite a lot, of Zufon's Shadow of the Wind, though the two really are dissimilar in most ways. In the high quality of characterization though, and in their superb prose styles they are alike. If Zufon were to write a Dumas novel, say Count of Monte Cristo, it would be something like this (or these, including the first). Absolutely top shelf adventure fiction. Loving it.
