it was ok

Pretty disappointed with this one, especially considering the quality of the other four. I don't even classify this as a full book; it's a prologue. Butcher should have condensed the events of this book and stuck it at the beginning of the next one. Its purpose (to build up the tension and hopelessness of the situation) would still have been served had it been part of the next book, and it wouldn't have been such a let-down.

Also, Butcher is making choices with some of his characters that I don't like, don't agree with, and don't add anything to the story. Still, the character development that was there was fairly interesting, especially that of Gaius Sextus and Attis.

Suggestion: Don't waste your money on the hardcover edition; purchase this one and the next one at the same time and read them back to back.
