Although I usually would rate Armstong's books as a 3.5-4.5, this book is holding on to the 3 by its fingernails. The story is convoluted and weakly developed. Although her main characters are interesting and fully developed from other books, the minor ones in this story are much weaker.
Elena is pregnant. She is one of the few female werewolves and the first remembered one to become pregnant so her pack is quite solicitous.
The pack steals a letter labeled "From Hell" only to have a killed mosquito splat Elena's blood on the letter and open a portal to purgatory releasing zombies and perhaps Jack the Ripper. If killed the zombies just return and will continue until they manage to close the portal. Of course, there is no handyman book to closing portals to purgatory so they run around frantically trying to elude or kill the zombies to the point you want to scream "get done with it will you".
Not my fave Armstrong book by a long shot.
