The Kang boys had grown weary of rice...and of cleaning up the rice they had used during their food fights! It just so happened that the annual dumpling contest was coming up, and Mama Kang was well known for her special recipe. But this year, one of the family pigs escapes, so Mama puts the boys in charge of making the dumplings. They manage to make
a mess, but that mess turns into noodles, and ends up being a total success at the contest!

The illustrations remind me of wood cuts, and capture the feel and flavor of ancient China. There is a recipe and an author’s note included in the back of the book. Technically classified as fiction.
