really liked it
bookshelves: fiction, slice-of-life
Read in August, 2009

Having seen the movie (and loved it) first, I knew the general idea of what to expect from this book. What I got was more or less what I expected, but a bit more. I really loved the book. More than the movie. I do not really know what to write here, except that if you liked the move but wish they had expanded on the characters more then this is for you. I don't really understand what so many other reviewers on this site are complaining about with some of the imagery and subject matter....abortions, whores, sex shows with ponies....they are all things that exist in life. The author is giving a legitimate slice of life....maybe not your life, and that is fine, but life nonetheless, and really who are any of us to judge? Anyways, enough of that. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and would recommend it to anyone.
