it was amazing

One of the things I love about Gaiman's writing is the way that he takes ordinary events, finds extraordinary possibilities and then makes them happen.
I can see why fans of The Sandman series would not enjoy Neverwhere as much. I would still say that it is worth reading, even if you are disappointed that there aren't any illustrations to go along with it. Personally, I rather enjoyed visualising the characters and events myself, but then again I didn't read comic books or graphic novels until my early 20s, so I didn't develop the same affection for them as others may have.
[Though, to make myself clear, I *loved* The Sandman series. I even took a class where it was part of the required reading just so I could have an excuse to read them again. Not that an excuse was needed, but it was fun to have to read them all over again.]
