Definitely an all-time classic -- and with good reason (though the first in the series is by far the best). Hadn't read it since grade 5 (though I played Matthew Cuthbert in the play version in grade 8) so it was fun to read it again, remembering very little of the book (I actually forgot that Matthew died, and I played his part in the play!). And as I was reading all the songs from the musical were coming back :). One of the things I forgot about the book was just how moralistic and Christian the book is -- the play cuts out sections like Anne learning how to pray. Overall a fun and quick read.
