Recommended for: teacher, students and homeschooling parents learning about plants.
Read in February, 2009, read count: Once

The book begins with one dandelion seed, clinging to the plant, afraid to let go after all the other seeds have flown away. Finally, the wind carries it away too, and we follow its travels until it falls in the winter snow. After it sprouts in the spring, we watch it grow, feed the deer, give nectar to bees and butterflies, and finally grow seeds of its own. When all the seeds but one have been carried away, the plant encourages that last seed to let go and not be afraid.

This is lovely book for studying seeds or the life cycle of a dandelion, and to encourage children to not be afraid to grow into the next stage of life or to try something new.
