This book has changed me. Lisa Genova's writing style is wonderful- I feel more informed, aware, sensitive and moved by being engrossed in Alice's life and experience. As a nurse, I am a better caregiver from reading this book. As a nurse educator, I will use some brief passages from the book to help my students' understand and develop caring approaches to their clients and families. And sadly, as a niece, granddaughter and great-grandaughter of women who have suffered from Alzheimers Disease, I have a greater understanding and respect for the heartbreaking experiences in my family.

Joanna I agree. This book has changed me also. About five years ago I had to move into my grandfathers house to care for him. He had Alzheimers Disease, but it wasn't too bad at first. He also had a colostomy. So when the Alzheimers progressed, the messes from the colostomy got worse, if you know what I mean. I had to work a full-time job and come home to messes all the time. And I would, like the book discribed, talk about him to others as if he wasn't even there. It was very stressful for me. He passed away this past December. I wish I would've known about this book sooner because maybe I would have been alittle more patient with him. Really a good book.

Kelly if you liked Still Alice, you may like my new book The Bird House. Library Journal called it a "a great title for book clubs and fans of 'Still Alice.' "
