I read a lot of this kind of thriller pulp fiction, and it can get forumulaic and rather dull. I was actually a little surprised by this particular book. The heroine of the book is part Native American, so she often added some local legend and history to the story that made it a bit different from the norm. The story was still predictable in the way that pulp thrillers are, but at least it was a small departure from the norm.
