Newly on the book store shelf, this is actually Phillip's first published novel. I love (love love love) her more recent work. This is a good read and a fine first novel. But I think the author tried to give too much history for too many of her characters. Much of the time I was left feeling like I wasn't sure if the heroine was really the heroine.

Phillip's books are great, but I'd recommend starting with other novels first. But if you've read them all, this is a fine one to add as well.
