This is such a beautiful story and so elegantly written and crafted. It'll come as no surprise that the book doesn't end on a high-note, so don't read the last part in a public space or when you have four more hours to get through at work. But seriously - this is a phenomenal book and if it's not currently being taught in every high school across the country - it should be.

Allison I loved this book because it was so well written and the characters are vivid, but I also felt like the historical fiction aspect of it teaches about the time which is important but can sometimes be made impersonal by textbooks.

Maryanne I totally agree - I hope they're teaching this in schools right now.
