This book grew on me. There are lots of characters and interactions that don’t really go anywhere, but collectively, the story is very moving. Tulik cutting his hair to be ‘presentable’ brought tears to my eyes. I liked the many wise philosophical sayings espoused by the elders—messages for us all to live our lives by.
