THE LINCOLN LAWYER by Michael Connelly (audio book from local library) is another Connelly specialty, full of surprises, twists, characters of every kind. First, this is a legal thriller and the title refers to criminal defense lawyer, Mickey Haller’s choice of vehicles, NOT our ex-president.

One of Haller’s fears is that someday he might defend an innocent man and not recognize it. Has that time finally arrived?

Married and divorced twice, a daughter, and still, jaded Mickey lives alone. That’s not to say he isn’t in touch with his exes. One is a prosecuting attorney, the other, his secretary. A lot of curious interaction throughout.

During his defense of Beverly Hills real estate broker, Louis Roulet (Haller’s big financial break), Haller becomes a murder suspect.

This is a must-read for all Michael Connelly fans, suspense junkies, and mystery lovers. Lots of action and surprises (though the ending was almost anti-climatic after all the action and suspense throughout). As an added bonus, interesting courtroom politics and behind the scenes look. And, hopefully, there will be more Mickey Haller stories to come.
