I fell in love with Lestat in this book; it's true I love a bratty narrator, and as this devilish undead boy is the "Brat Prince," I felt quite at home in his narrative voice. This book is so much more upbeat than the first installment in the Vampire Chronicles; it's true Lestat is far more entertaining than poor Louis, the whiny newbie vampire of New Orleans. I loved following him through the present-day streets of America, and though I loved his backstory of how he came to be, what engaged me the most was his pompous attitude and how he came to be that way after all those years kickin' and suckin' blood. His voice follows in the next of the chronicles, the Queen of the Damned, and he carried me right through, thirsting for more.
