really liked it
bookshelves: childrens, fantasy
Read in May, 2008 , read count: 5

The first time I read this, I felt it was just a re-hash of the first book and didn't really care for it. The more I've read it, though, the more I've really come to like it, especially after having read the entire series and knowing what will happen later.

The beginning is a bit repetitive in that once again Harry is with the Dursleys and they go through a lot of the same explanations of the school and situations, but once the main story really kicks in I didn't find it to be at all repetitive. It's the same as the first in that there's a kind of mystery that the three friends are trying to solve throughout the book, but other than that I felt it stands pretty strong as its own thing.

Again, Jim Dale's narration in the audio version really adds a lot to this. I've been very impressed with his work so far, and expect I'll continue to enjoy it.
