I would say more 2.5 stars. I can't pinpoint what it is, but something was lacking in this one for me...I love the source material and really enjoyed The Looking Glass Wars, but this book just seemed to drag on for me. Part of it, I think, is the lack of characterization...they seem awfully 2D. All Dodge wants to do is kiss Alyss and kill The Cat, really no in between grayness for him. I also found Redd tedious in her viciousness...I know it's fiction based on fiction, but what is her motivation? The whole discussion/fighting of White vs. Black Imagination got kinda old pretty fast, too...the fight scenes seem deja vu-ish after awhile. I hope the third book is better.
