I so wanted to love this book. Klomparens' first book, Jessica Z. was such a great experience that I was hoping for more of the same from his second offering. But this one fell pretty flat for me. I liked it, but I didn't love it. Andy Dunne is a likeable character, but much of the story felt too contrived. Even though he has a messy past, things just happen to fall into place a little too neatly in Andy's life: he loses his job, but he lands another right away and becomes a major TV star; he's a little out of shape so he walks into the gym and the pounds miraculously melt away, etc. etc.

Klomparens is a good writer, and I will continue to read his books -- this one just isn't my favorite.
