This is a book about this guy's experiences visiting different villages in the Amazon and hanging out with medicine men to learn about medicines, recipes for poisonous arrowheads, psychotropic drugs, and the lifestyles of a few cultures at a pretty important time of change. He mixes tidbits of botanical history with anecdotes about the people he meets and the result is pretty interesting and makes me dream again of becoming an ethnobotanist the way I did when I was a girl.
