After having this book on my "currently reading" shelf for two years, I finally finished. DM is a master of writing accessible history. His focus on GW and the army was unexpected, but provided an great glimpse into how in 1776 the revolutions victory was far from fated. I did wish that there were more women's voices (he used letters from soldiers to their wives, but not so many letters from the wives themselves) though he did use Abigail Adams and Martha Washington's POV occasionally. Also it was kind of nice to be reading this right before attending a performance of 1776 the musical.
