Loved the small, Midwestern town and characters in this essentially plotless novel. The plot, really, is about their lives, which was far from uninteresting or tedious though mostly what occurred were everday ups and downs. Witty, sharp dialogue. Very, very funny.

Jan i wholeheartedly agree! so refreshing to read an essentially plotless, yet compelling, "quiet" novel about people getting by. no fancy hooks or clever ruses. have you read anything else by drury?
