it was ok
bookshelves: book-club
Read in January, 2009

I just couldn't seem to get very excited about this book. In contrast to Vinge's other, radically creative creations, this one felt ... confined and limited. It speculates, but in obvious ways. And the most vivid image I'm left with is of a giant dancing library. Yeah, the whole building dancing. This is just not what I read sci-fi for. A Hugo, really?

Maybe I'm just sick of The Singularity and its Worshippers.

Jen This was the first Vinge I read, which made me a bit gun-shy when people kept recommending him to me.
