really liked it
bookshelves: fantasy, archealogical-fiction
Read in December, 2008

The father becomes a myth figure first. The brother becomes the destroyer. The hero must and does kill this destroyer – his brother – whom he loves very much. The girl the hero loves is gone, a sort of dead, and he must wait for her to return.

It’s hauntingly sad and beautifully constructed. I’m hoping to find more books by Mr. Holdstock.
