really liked it

I regularly exchange bags of quick read detective/thriller paperbacks with my aunt. We both consume them at a rate of knots and tend to read everything by one author and move on. I've discovered Lee Child, Michael Connoly and various other writers this way.

Most of them are forgettable and the equivalent of fast food for me. Predictable, formulaic and temporarily very satisfying. Essential for turning off from my work and travel focussed life sometimes.

I read a book by Hoag years ago and wasn't impressed but I really liked the chracter development of Sam Kovac in this book. He would make a great central character in a TV series (or a film), a US version of Rankin's Rebus.
