Once close friends—Aria, Hanna, Spencer, and Emily—have barely acknowledged each other since the disappearance of the queen bee of their group, Ali. Too busy with their own lives—shoplifting, climbing their high school’s social ladder, starting a fling with a teacher, exploring sexual orientations, pursuing a sibling’s boyfriend—they don’t have time to live in the past. That is, until the past slaps them across their Cover-Girl faces: a mysterious “A” begins calling, texting, tormenting the girls about their darkest secrets; secrets that only Ali knew and held over their heads every day of their short friendship. Could this “A” be Ali continuing her power-play from a distance or has something happened to Ali and their secrets are being exploited by a sick member of their small, upper-class town?

Written by Sara Shepard in 2006, PRETTY LITTLE LIARS is a sudsy thriller that will satisfy anyone’s guilty pleasure fix. With never a dull moment, each chapter is told from the perspective of one of the girls and explores their tumultuous lives. Despite the young adult romances and some seemingly juvenile troubles, PRETTY LITTLE LIARS is a mystery full of twists and turns that will keep your head spinning for days after you’ve finished reading it. The first in the series 12, this book even spawned the hit ABC Family show of the same name that first aired in 2010.
