bookshelves: kids-books, fiction

This is one of the Mock Newbery contenders at BPL...it was a very touching story about a young girl who gains confidence in herself after she causes a terrible accident. The most interesting aspect of the book was its format: it is mostly written in shape poems, which really holds the reader's attention. Because I have no soul, I don't usually like books (even kid's books) that focus on animals, but this was enjoyable and emotional. Nicely written.
