I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about this one. It was okay, not great. I read about half of it at first, then moved on to something else. Only recently did I pick it back up and finish it. The way it is written is slightly annoying; it's not hard to tell that the authors were trying just too damn hard to sound like teenagers and connect with pre-teen readers. This is the first book I've ever read that has actually made me feel that I'm too old to be reading it. The plot itself is pretty good; it's pretty different from other vampire literature and it's always good to see a book that's not a copy of Twilight.

The only really captivating part of the book was the ending—though even that in itself was kind of annoying to me...Maybe it was just captivating because it meant that I was almost done the book. My main problem is, I feel that the main character, Zoey, is just given too much power right off the bat. It's almost overbearing, and it leaves the reader (in my opinion) thinking about how ridiculous the whole thing is rather than just enjoying the text. In a couple of days Zoey Redbird goes from being a regular teenage girl to practically being the superman of 'vampyres'. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this to someone. There are plenty of other vampire novels that I would recommend first before mentioning this one.
