Read in August, 2006, read count: 4

The first time I read this, it was just after seeing the newer movie version with Keira Knightley, a few years ago. I fell in love with the character of Mr. Darcy, and desperately wanted to read the book. I found my own copy for a few dollars, and set about reading it a few days after I watched the movie. Needless to say, I loved the book. The first time around, I read it purely for pleasure, and to see a different facet to Darcy and Lizzy's relationship. The next year, I read the book again. This time, I read it for the satire on life, marriage, and traditional gender roles and what was expected in the the early 19th century -- this brought a whole new understanding to the book, and I loved it even more for that. After that, each reread has been purely for pleasure, because Mr. Darcy is one tasty literary character.
