This may be the best vampire book I've ever read.

I read a review somewhere that identified this as the "anti-Twilight."

Like Twilight: It's about a young kid and a vampire in a young body. The two develop a relationship.

Unlike Twilight: This is *not* a young adult novel. It's quite well-written (of course, I read the English translation). There is bloody, gory violence. The vampire doesn't feel like a creepy stalker/ abusive boyfriend. Some of the humans are more monstrous than the vampire. It deals with issues of real horror: pedophilia, drug/alcohol abuse, bullying, isolation, human misery.

This is also not Anne Rice, although I'm not sure Claudia and Eli are that different.

Brian Lovato Did you see the film? I really really liked it. I was also told that it was the anti-Twilight.

Emily Yeah, the film was really good - but the book was better (as usual).
