it was amazing
bookshelves: young-adult

I read this book over ten years ago, and its emotional impact sticks with me to this day. I will never forget the main character, Eric, often dubbed "Moby." As an overweight high school junior, he is a combination of insecurity, intelligent honesty and sensitivity. I was completely overwhelmed as I watched him grow and mature throughout the story. His tenderness toward Sarah, even at the peak of her rage and bitterness, is palpable. This is my favorite among Crutcher's impressive list of novels. I have read a ton of YA books through the years, and I would put this one among my top ten.
