Read in January, 2009

Well that was a giant disappointment. I was expecting something a lot different and maybe a book that didn't feel like a chapter of a larger book. The cliffhanger ending to these books drives me insane. I don't know if I'll bother to read the other books in the series when they come out. Claire is also a bit boring and I still can't see her motivations for jumping into every single problem.

Chessa I feel exactly the same about the cliffhanger endings - why did they start mid-series?! The first three books were all nicely self contained and then bam, we get two cliffhangers in a row. I'm just not a fan of carry-over storylines. Get it out and move on to the next story already! I just feel like nothing really *happened* in this book. Ugh.

Sharon I totally agree

Suz I just started reading this series, having put it off for a long time because I find most YA series fairly insipid and jejune. This series is no different, but like you I find the cliff hanger endings particularly insulting and heinous. This arc with Bishop is like reading one book that was simply torn in two places to create three books with no endings. Lazy writing. With every book in this series I disrespect Rachel Caine more. I doubt I will read any of her other series. Toying with your readers is arrogant and disrespectful.
