I think it was a much younger targeted YA novel. I feel like I might have appreciated the story more if I were 13 or 14. So, really the rating is just that I guess I expected more from a YA novel - it felt very simple and the "lie" when you found it out didn't seem like the most horrible thing, but than at the age of the characters it was not unbelievable that there would be that much drama over it. I think teh author's switching back and forth between "Before" and "the Aftermath" was handled well. It was usually pretty clear and I didn't get too lost. However, the escalation of "the aftermath" would really depend on the type of school. I am assuming the public school was fairly small and preppy or there would NOT have been such a fallout over minor scuffles, though maybe with a news crew it would have. Overall a quick and light read.
