What a way to start a new year! This book is a solid 5 stars, and when I wasn't reading it I was thinking about it. I have liked this Matthew Shardlake series, but I believe that they just keep getting better and better. Matthew Shardlake is an unlikely hero, a hunchback lawyer working in Tudor times, and this book was fantastic. This book is about one of Matthew's oldest friends being murdered and his promise to his widow to find the killer. It is a superb murder mystery set during one of my favorite times in history. Not a lot on Henry VIII, but just a great setting for a mystery. C.J. Sansom captures the uncertainty of the time period, and I would recommend this series to anyone who likes mysteries, the Tudor time period or just a great book. I would recommend starting with the book "Dissolution".
