The Twilight is sort of a sub-reality to our own. It exists alongside of our reality, but the only beings who can enter the Twilight are the Others. These beings are either Light or Dark, meaning they work for harmony and peace or chaos and destruction. Anton is a Light Other, a member of the Night Watch, the organization that patrols the Dark Others of the Day Watch (the Day Watch patrols the Night Watch, too). In the course of one evening, Anton’s life is turned upside down as he becomes entangled in an elaborate plan to change the world as we know it.

I was interested in reading this book after a friend had recommended the movie to me. I enjoyed the movie, and I enjoyed the book, although they are really very different (at least, from what I remember of the movie). I would have read this book more quickly but I haven't been making time to read lately, as I've been trying to finish some knitting projects and dealing with deadlines at work.
