Lady Marcia is the oldest of the three sisters. When she was sixteen, she was seduced by Finn Lattimore. He had promised to run away with her and get married. Instead, he dumps her and leaves the area. Lady Marcia is heartbroken and thinks that she is now a ruined woman who could never be acceptable to any man. Thus, she finds a new life as the Headmistress of a girl's school and vowing never to marry. The owner of the school is an arrogant widow and a former classmate of Marcia's. She has decided that she wants to sell the school and thus fires Marcia from her position as Headmistress. Although she is devastated at the loss of her position, she loves her school and the students and looks for ways to save it from being sold. In the meantime, she once again meets Duncan Lattimore, brother of Finn Lattimore who seduced her. Their first encounter many years before ended with heated words and extreme dislike especially on Marcia's part. As they get to know one another better, their attraction grows and leads to a humorous matchup.
