Your heart will break for these two beautiful girls, Maggie and Jenny. Life changes in a heartbeat for these girls when their father is killed in a logging accident. Their mother tries for a while to keep it together for them, but then she disappears, leaving them to the care of an older couple, Mr. and Mrs. Edwards. The girls try hard to believe that their mother will return for them as she promised, and readers will want to believe it, also. How could a mother abandon her girls? This book is a wonderful story of the caring and love these sisters have for each other, and the bond between them. Prepare to cry for these two girls, but also be ready to admire them as they survive loss and separation, and triumph together over the nasty things life has handed them.
