it was amazing

This is certainly not a book that I would have chosen first from a bookstore - it appeared to be a collection of short stories, which isn't really my thing. But let me tell you - it really hit home the idiom 'don't judge a book by it's cover'!
All of the mini stories link to the main character, Yunior, at different times and key events in his life. It is dotted with Dominican Spanish throughout the book, but even though I don't speak the language, this wasn't an issue as I could work out the gist, and I felt that it added to the cultural background of Yunior, who is a young Dominican living in America.
As the book developed, I felt a real warmth towards the main character, even though his flaws were clear to see. I would recommend this book to someone who wants to read something a bit different, as I thoroughly enjoyed it!
