This was such an awesome book! It totally spoke to my experience as a first-time mom giving birth in a hospital setting. I ill-advisedly went in for an induction when I was only a week overdue and wound up with a c-section due to sheer exhaustion and basically failure to progress after several days in labor. Naomi Wolf is a genius- she perfectly expressed my feelings of disappointment at my "failure" to achieve the natural, drug-free birth I'd wanted and spoke the "heresy" that I'd been thinking all along; we really /do/ lose our old selves when we have a child, and it's okay to mourn the death of our prepartum selves! A must-read for any mother or mother-to-be!
