I absolutely loved The Girl She Used to Be and I always wondered what happened after the end of the story so when I heard about The Exceptions I knew I had to read it. It is told from Jonathan’s point of view and begins with Jonathan as a young boy and how he grows up surrounded by the Bovaro life of crime. I was surprised that it does basically retell the entire story in The Girl She Used to Be which worked remarkably well. It was a great way to recap for those who like me read the first book when it first came out and need the refresher. I really came to like Jonathan in the first book but I truly fell in love with him after reading his point of view of the events...See the full review at Debbie's World of Books.
